Frequency Scan
“Frequency Scan” begins like a system boot sequence: standby mode, system checks in progress, frequency scanning initiated.
An electronic voice appears to monitor a signal that gradually grows stronger. The bass builds, the heartbeat synchronises with the rhythm, and the music becomes increasingly intense.
The lyrics resemble messages from a computer interface, but the system isn't analysing a machine. It's scanning the dancefloor, detecting its energy and the movement of the crowd.
The track unfolds like a short futuristic sequence, in which the listener is first detected, then drawn into the rhythm, and finally recognised as part of the music itself.
The scan ends with a definitive message: “System locked. Frequency stable. You are now the sound.”
Mission complete.

BEHIND THE SONG
How it began.
I spend a large part of my life working with computers, electronic systems, signals, and all kinds of technical equipment. Perhaps that's why, when I think about electronic music, I naturally start imagining what might be happening inside a system.
With “Frequency Scan”, I wanted to play with exactly that idea.
What if a song didn't begin with a singer, but with a machine starting up?
A system running its checks, searching for a signal, measuring frequencies, and gradually detecting that something is changing.
Except this time, the signal isn't coming from an electronic device. It's coming from people dancing.
I liked the idea of using expressions commonly associated with computer systems, such as “System check in progress”, “Scanning the pulse”, and “Frequency stable”, and turning them into part of a musical narrative.
It's almost as though a piece of software were analysing a dancefloor and synchronising it with the bass.
As the track develops, the system appears to gain more and more control. But the ending changes the perspective completely.
“You are now the sound.”
The machine is no longer simply producing something for someone to hear. The listener has become part of the process.
I enjoy this connection between computing and music because they're two worlds I'm familiar with, and despite their differences, they share many elements: frequencies, timing, pulses, and synchronisation.
“Frequency Scan” is built around this imaginative experiment: turning an electronic procedure into a small dance experience.
And for once, the system doesn't return an error.
It returns music.
Keep listening.
