I Should've Taken More Pictures

A sunset over the bay, a crowded bar, familiar friends, and a contemporary Latin rhythm keeping everyone on the dancefloor. It could be the perfect summer night, except for the absence of someone who still occupies the protagonist's thoughts.

“I Should've Taken More Pictures” explores the regret of not capturing enough moments with someone who is no longer part of your life.

Against a backdrop of Latin-inspired rhythms, raised glasses, summer memories, and crowded streets, the protagonist tries to enjoy the celebration, but every song seems to bring the past back into focus.

The title reflects a very modern contradiction: we can photograph almost everything, yet somehow the moments that matter most are often the ones we fail to capture.

A track that invites you to dance with a smile, even when there's a little sadness behind it.

The words.

Intro

(Ey)

Yeah

Summer nights again

Verse 1

Another sunset shining on the bay tonight

City lights and people dancing in the neon light

Laughing loud with all the friends I used to know

But every song reminds me of you somehow

Walking slow through streets that never sleep

Every corner got a memory to keep

Trying hard to leave the past behind

But your shadow still follows in my mind

Chorus

I should've taken more pictures when you were mine

Saved every moment, every little sign

Now every flash just brings me back again

To all the nights we lost in the summer wind

I should've held you closer in the light

Dancing together through the endless night

Now every beat just pulls me back to you

Under the city lights and the midnight blue

Verse 2

Crowded bar and everybody’s feeling high

Music loud and glasses raised into the sky

People moving like the rhythm owns the floor

But I still feel the echo of before

Friends are laughing, calling out my name

But nothing here is ever quite the same

Trying hard to keep the night alive

But some memories refuse to die

Bridge

Pour another drink and let it go

Let the speakers shake the soul

If tomorrow never comes around

We’ll keep dancing through the sound

Hands up high into the air

Lose ourselves without a care

Every heartbeat in the crowd

Singing louder, singing loud

Final Chorus

I should've taken more pictures when you were mine

Saved every moment, every little sign

Now every flash just brings me back again

To all the nights we lost in the summer wind

I should've held you closer in the light

Dancing together through the endless night

Now every beat just pulls me back to you

Under the city lights and the midnight blue

Outro

Maybe tonight I drink too much again

Maybe tonight the music helps pretend

But somewhere in the flashing lights I see

The ghost of what we used to be

BEHIND THE SONG

How it began.

How many pictures do we have on our phones? Thousands, probably. Restaurant meals, sunsets, places we've visited, and things we may never look at again.

Yet sometimes you search for a picture of someone, or a particular moment, and realise you never took one.

That contradiction is at the heart of “I Should've Taken More Pictures”.

I wanted to explore regret in a different way. Not through a letter, a phone call, or a dramatic declaration of love, but through something we do almost every day: taking photographs.

What interested me most was the contrast between the memories and the musical atmosphere.

I imagined the track with a contemporary Latin character, inspired by the kind of productions that can make people dance even when the lyrics carry a sense of sadness. I like that combination of seemingly opposite emotions, where the music doesn't have to become sorrowful just because the story is.

In the song, the party goes on. Friends are laughing, the music is loud, and glasses are raised. The protagonist is there with everyone else, but something keeps reminding him of someone who is no longer part of his life.

And that's when he starts thinking about all the photographs he wishes he had taken.

Not to post them or show them to anyone, but simply to return, even for a second, to a moment that no longer exists.

The title is deliberately straightforward: “I Should've Taken More Pictures”.

But perhaps the real regret isn't about the photographs themselves. It's about all those times when we only realise how much something mattered after we can no longer experience it.

And I think that feeling can coexist perfectly with music that makes you want to dance.

Keep listening.
