Burn Slow

“Burn Slow” grew out of a desire to explore Afro House and experiment with its distinctive rhythms and sounds in my own way.

The track develops around an immersive groove, where percussion and recurring vocal phrases create a sense of tension that builds gradually, without the need to accelerate.

One of its defining features is the interplay of five languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Russian. Rather than simply translating the same phrases, the lyrics explore the musical qualities of each language, bringing different textures and contrasts into the composition.

The title captures the central idea: a fire that doesn't explode, but keeps burning, fuelled by anticipation, closeness, and desire.

An Afro House experiment in which timing, vocals, and rhythm find their own balance.

Sin palabras, just heat

viens plus près under me

BEHIND THE SONG

How it began.

It was April, and during a casual conversation with Franky DJ, we ended up talking about Afro House.

As we discussed music, rhythms, and different sounds, I became curious about exploring the genre and finding my own way of interpreting it.

What particularly interested me about Afro House was its ability to create movement without necessarily relying on speed. A steady, almost hypnotic rhythm, driven by percussion, repetition, and subtle changes in the arrangement.

That's where the idea for “Burn Slow” began.

I wanted to play with a contrast: a fire that burns, but burns slowly. A sense of tension that builds without rushing, giving the music time to develop.

Then I started experimenting with languages. English, Italian, Spanish, French, and even Russian. I wasn't interested in translating the same idea over and over again. I wanted to explore how different words and pronunciations could become part of the rhythm.

Russian, in particular, offered an interesting contrast with the softer sounds of the other languages. The expression “гори медленно”, meaning “burn slowly”, fitted naturally into the concept.

The result is a sensual composition built more around anticipation than acceleration, where even the words become part of the musical arrangement.

And to think it all started with a simple conversation with Franky DJ back in April.

That's one of the things I enjoy most about making music: sometimes a casual exchange of ideas is enough to make you want to try something you hadn't previously considered.

Keep listening.
